Internet Relay Chat is a chat protocol allowing for chatting with many users through channels. It also supports private messaging with any user, and file transfers. IRC is home to the unofficial #SA-MP and #SA-MP.scripting channels run by SA-MP beta testers, alongside many other channels on the network.

Network Rules

When using IRC, there are rules in place to encourage proper etiquette. In addition to these network rules, there may be rules in place by individual channels.

Here are the rules for the irc.tl network. These can also be viewed with the /motd command in your IRC client.

The following is prohibited at this network:
  • Racism/Nazism
  • Discussing or spreading illegal copyrighted material (warez, movies, music)
  • Spamming/advertising.
  • Hacking/cracking.
  • Flooding
  • Botnets
All users must follow international law, and the laws of their country. Being on this IRC network is a privilege, not a right. Staff members from any of our linked servers may deny you access to this network for any reason.

Connecting to the network

You can connect to the network through one of many IRC clients. The most popular clients are mIRC, XChat, IRSSI and IceChat. You can also connect through a webchat service, the most popular one being Mibbit. Most questions and problems with IRC can be solved through a simple web search.

Once you are connected to the network, you can join any channel with the /join #channelname command, and leave channels using the /leave #channelname.
